A Tribute to My Father + Quotes

Quips & Quotes for JUNE:

BUT FIRST:  A Father’s Day tribute to my father, Martin Anderson, now in Heaven, who also would have celebrated a birthday in June:

*How blessed I was to have a father who read the Bible and prayed with us each evening at the dinner table.

*How blessed I was to have a wise dad who taught me one of his favorite (and most valued quotes) from the book of Proverbs:  “Even a fool, when he holdeth his tongue, is counted wise.”

*How blessed I was to have a dad who taught me how to shake hands:  “Give a firm grip,” he urged.  “None of these limp fish handshakes.”

*How blessed I was to have a father who protected me in a family of rowdy boys because he thought girls were fragile (which I didn’t like at the time).

*How blessed I was to have a dad who came to visit me at the hospital in the next town each of the 40 nights I hung between life and death with whooping cough and pneumonia at age four.   And it was Dad who carried me in his arms to my doctor’s appointments each month because I had a heart murmur and rheumatic fever at age ten.  (No wonder he thought girls were fragile.)

Thanks a million, Dad  ~ Sharon Sheppard

When pleasant sights salute the eyes and pleasant scents the roses.

How did it get so late so soon?  It’s night before it’s afternoon.  December is here before it’s June.  My goodness, how the time has flewn!
