From “mish-mash” to Marvelous

_DSC0302Think of the one-third / two-thirds rule.  Two-thirds of any room should have semblance and connection in style and colors that relate to one another.
As an example, if you like a room with clean lines or transitional in style, two-thirds of the room should have that look.  It is a fun surprise, however, and gives a room relief, when one-third of the room has eye-popping appeal by mixing it up in style and color.  This could be a vintage piece of furniture or an accent color on the focal wall.

Note the vintage telephone table from the ’30s in this photo.  The telephone was the dial-up table top style.  The phone books werestored on the shelf below for easy access.
